vinca alkaloid

one of a group of antimitotic drugs ( see cytotoxic drug ) derived from the periwinkle (Vinca rosea). Vinca alkaloids, which are usually administered intravenously and are used especially to treat leukaemias and lymphomas, include vinblastine , vincristine , and vindesine .
