uveitis

INFLAMMATION of any part of the UVEA of the EYE . The iris and ciliary body are often both inflamed (anterior uveitis). producing a painful condition, unlike posterior uveitis ( when the choroid is affected). The cause of both types is usually different and may follow from affected areas elsewhere in the eye. All types lead to visual impairment, and symptoms may include blurred vision with discomfort or pain, and diseases or conditions with which it is known to be linked are ARTHRITIS , TUBERCULOSIS , SYPHILIS , and viral and parasitic INFECTIONS .
