trabeculectomy

an operation for glaucoma, one part of which is the removal of a small segment of tissue from part of the wall of Schlemm's canal . This area is known as the trabecular meshwork. Trabeculectomy allows aqueous fluid to filter out of the eye under the conjunctiva, thus reducing the pressure inside the eye.
