the sense that is conferred by specialized SENSORY receptors present in the SKIN ( and also in MUSCLES and other areas of the body), which enable sensations of pain, temperature, pressure and touch to be perceived. The SENSE ORGANS involved are specially adapted to respond to particular sensations conveying their messages to the brain along different NERVE pathways.
