Tinea Cruris

Tinea cruris, also called JOCK ITCH or DHOBI ITCH, is a superficial DERMATOPHYTE INFECTION involving the SKIN of the groin, inner thighs, and surrounding areas. It is commonly caused by fungi such as TRICHOPHYTON RUBRUM and EPIDERMOPHYTON FLOCCOSUM. The infection develops more easily in warm and moist environments and produces ITCHING, redness, scaling, and well-defined inflammatory patches. Treatment includes hygiene measures and ANTIFUNGAL MEDICATIONS.
