Tinea Corporis

Tinea corporis is a form of DERMATOPHYTOSIS affecting the EPIDERMIS of the trunk, arms, legs, or other non-hairy body regions. It is caused by DERMATOPHYTE such as TRICHOPHYTON, MICROSPORUM, and EPIDERMOPHYTON species. The infection produces characteristic ANNULAR LESIONS with raised scaly borders and central clearing. Transmission may occur through contact with infected humans, animals, or contaminated objects and is treated with ANTIFUNGAL MEDICATIONS.
