thermography

a method of recording the heat produced by different areas of the body, using photographic film sensitive to infrared radiation. Areas with good blood CIRCULATION produce more heat, and this can occur abnormally if a TUMOUR is present. The record thus obtained is a thermogram, and this is one of the techniques used to detect BREAST tumours (mammothermography).
