the SENSORY receptors responsible for the perception of TASTE , located in the grooves around the PAPILLAE of the TONGUE , in the EPIGLOTTIS , parts of the PHARYNX and the soft PALATE . The taste buds are stimulated by the presence of dissolved food in the SALIVA , and messages are sent via NERVES to the BRAIN where the information is interpreted and perceived.
