the GLANDS in the EPIDERMIS of SKIN that project into the dermis and are under the control of the SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM . The glands occur over most of the body but are especially abundant on the forehead, palms of the hands and soles of the feet and under the arms. See also PERSPIRATION .
