one of a group of drugs containing the chemical group -SO 2 NH 2 . These drugs do not kill BACTERIA but prevent bacterial growth and are thus very useful in controlling INFECTIONS . Some SIDE EFFECTS may occur but in general these are outweighed by the benefits.
