a drug that reduces SPASMS (in smooth MUSCLE ) in a number of ways. It may generally depress the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM , act directly on the muscles in question, or modify the NERVE IMPULSES causing the spasm. Spasmolytics are used in the treatment of ANGINA , COLIC and as BRONCHODILATORS .
