hardening of tissue, usually after INFLAMMATION , leading to parts of organs being hard and of no use. It is applied commonly to such changes in the NERVOUS SYSTEM ( MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS ); in other organs it is termed FIBROSIS or CIRRHOSIS .
