the lower part of the SPINAL COLUMN , comprising five fused vertebrae ( SACRAL VERTEBRAE ) in a triangular shape. The sacrum forms the back wall of the PELVIS and articulates with the COCCYX below, LUMBAR VERTEBRAE above and the HIPS to the sides.
