Ross River fever

a viral disease caused by an ALPHAVIRUS transmitted by mosquitoes. Various vertebrates can be infected, and wild rodents may be reservoirs of the infection. The virus can cause epidemics of POLYARTHRITIS and skin rashes (macules and papules). It occurs in Australia and the western Pacific region.
