referred pain

pain felt in another part of the body at a distance from the site at which it might be expected, e.g. certain HEART conditions cause pain in the left arm and fingers. The condition arises because some SENSORY nerves share common routes in the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM , hence stimulation of one causes an effect in another.
