Photoreceptor Rod Cell

Photoreceptor rod cells are specialized light-sensitive CELLS found in the RETINA of the EYE. They are responsible for vision in low-light conditions but do not detect color. Rod cells contain the PIGMENT RHODOPSIN, which changes when exposed to light. This change triggers NERVE IMPULSES that travel through the visual pathway to the BRAIN, allowing light and dark images to be perceived.

Rod cells are eye cells that help people see in dim light or darkness.
