phenobarbitone

a very widely used BARBITURATE . It can be given orally or by injection and is taken as an anticonvulsant in epilepsy and to treat insomnia or anxiety. It may produce drowsiness and some skin reactions, and continued use should be avoided in case dependence ensues.
