osteogenesis

BONE formation, which occurs in several stages via special cells called OSTEOBLASTS . COLLAGEN fibres form a network in CONNECTIVE TISSUE and then a cement of polysaccharide is laid down. Finally, calcium salts are distributed among the cement as tiny crystals. The osteoblasts are enclosed as bone cells ( OSTEOCYTES ).
