Oral hypoglycemic drug

a medication taken by mouth to lower blood glucose levels in patients with DIABETES MELLITUS (type 2 diabetes) by increasing insulin production, improving tissue sensitivity to insulin, or slowing digestion. They do not cure diabetes, but are effective for managing it alongside diet and exercise.
