occupational diseases

a disease that is specific to a particular occupation and to which workers are prone. There are many lung conditions, including PNEUMOCONIOSIS (from coal mining), SILICOSIS (from mining, stone dressing etc), ASBESTOSIS , FARMER'S LUNG (from fungal spores), and so on. In addition there are dangers from excessive noise, irritant chemicals, occupations resulting in musculo-skeletal disorders, decompression sickness (see BENDS ), radiation and infections from either animals or humans.
