a linear molecule that occurs in two forms: DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid), composed of four NUCLEOTIDES . DNA is the major part of CHROMOSOMES in the cell nucleus while RNA is also found outside the nucleus and is involved in PROTEIN synthesis.
