Neurofibromatosis Type 2

Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) is a HEREDITARY CONDITION caused by changes affecting tumor-control genes. It mainly affects the NERVOUS SYSTEM and is characterized by SCHWANNOMAS, especially tumors involving the VESTIBULOCOCHLEAR NERVE. These tumors may cause hearing loss, balance problems, and other neurological symptoms.
