Medical Term

narcolepsy

a condition wherein a person has a tendency to fall asleep a few times per day for several minutes or hours. The attacks may occur when in quiet surroundings or may be induced by laughter and the person may be woken easily. It is thought that it may be an IMMUNE -related disease and lasts for life. Drugs ( AMPHETAMINE type) may be taken to ensure attacks do not occur at certain times, but regular doses are considered ill-advised in view of possible mental effects.
