(formerly known as the bicuspid valve) a valve that is located between the ATRIUM and VENTRICLE of the left side of the HEART , attached to the walls at the opening between the two. It has two cusps or flaps and normally allows BLOOD to pass into the ventricle from the atrium but prevents any back flow.
