meglitinides

n. a group of ORAL HYPOGLYCAEMIC DRUG , including repaglinide (NovoNorm) and nateglinide (Starlix), used for treating type 2 DIABETES MELLITUS . They act by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas and should be taken before each meal.
