laparoscope

a type of ENDOSCOPE with a light source and a means of viewing the object that is inserted into the abdominal cavity through a small incision. This allows a surgeon to view the organs in the cavity and a laparoscope is also used to enable some minor operations to be performed using instruments inserted through a second incision.
