labyrinth

part of the inner EAR , consisting of canals, ducts and cavities, forming the organs of hearing and balance. There are two parts: the membranous labyrinth, comprising the semicircular canals and associated structures and the central cavity of the cochlea; and the bony labyrinth, a system of canals filled with PERILYMPH (a third) and surrounding the other parts.
