the JOINT connecting the thigh to the lower leg and formed by the FEMUR , TIBIA and kneecap ( PATELLA ). It is a hinge type of synovial joint with very strong LIGAMENTS binding the bones together. Although the knee is a strong joint, it is complex and injuries can be serious.
