an inability to control bowel movements or the passage of URINE . Urinary incontinence may be caused by a lesion in the brain or spinal cord, injury to the sphincter or damage to the nerves of the bladder. Stress incontinence occurs during coughing or straining and is common in women because of the weakening of muscles in childbirth. There are other categories of incontinence depending on the cause or the frequency of urine passage and the stimulus causing urination.
