homeopathy

a system of medicine devised by Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), which is part of ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE in the UK. It is based on the premise that 'like cures like', and so a patient is given minute quantities of drugs that can, in themselves, produce symptoms of the disease or malady being treated.
