hip joint

a 'ball and socket' JOINT made up of the head of the FEMUR , which rests inside a deep, cup-shaped cavity (the acetabulum) in the hip bone. The hip bone (or innominate bone) is itself made up of three fused bones: the PUBIS , ISCHIUM and ILIUM , which form part of the PELVIS .
