the secretion from the gastric GLANDS in the STOMACH . The main constituents are hydrochloric acid, rennin, mucin and pepsinogen, the last forming pepsin in the acid conditions. The acidity (which is around pH 1 to 1.5) also destroys unwanted bacteria.
