gall bladder

a SAC - like organ, situated on the underside of the liver, that stores and concentrates BILE . It is approximately 8 cm long and 2.5 cm at its widest, and its volume is a little over 30cm sq. When fats are digested, the gall bladder contracts, sending bile into the DUODENUM through the common bile duct. GALLSTONES , the most common gall bladder disease, may form in certain circumstances.
