Failure to thrive

n failure of an infant to grow satisfactorily compared with the average for that community. It is detected by regular measurements and plotting on CENTILE CHART . It can be the first indication of a serious underlying condition, such as kidney or heart disease or malabsorption, or it may result from problems at home, particularly NONACCIDENTAL INJURY .
