one of a group of drugs that are taken to help in the removal of secretions from the LUNGS , BRONCHI and TRACHEA . The drugs work in one of several ways or can be used to combine their effects. Some dry up excess MUCUS and SPUTUM while others render these secretions less viscous to promote their removal. There are other varieties that work in still different ways.
