etidronate

a BISPHOSPHONATES drug that is administered orally to treat PAGET'S DISEASE OF BONE and (in combination with calcium carbonate) to treat and prevent osteoporosis of the vertebrae, including postmenopausal osteoporosis. Side-effects include diarrhoea and nausea.
