erysipelas

an infectious disease, caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. It produces an inflammation of the SKIN with associated redness. Large areas of the body may be affected, and other symptoms may include blisters, fever and pain with a feeling of heat and a tingling sensation. In addition to being isolated, patients are given PENICILLIN .
