epidemiology

the study of EPIDEMIC disease. It involves aspects such as occurrence and distribution, causes, control and prevention. Included are the obvious epideics such as CHOLERA and SMALLPOX and also others associated with more recent times (e.g. related to diet, lifestyle, etc). Also, those about which much more is now known. Thus, the link between smoking and cancer, diet and coronary disease are also included.
