enterovirus

a VIRUS that enters the body via the gut, where it multiplies and from where it attacks the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM . Examples are POLIOMYELITIS and the Coxsackie viruses (the cause of severe throat infections, MENINGITIS and INFLAMMATION of heart tissue, some muscles and the brain).
