diverticulitis

INFLAMMATION of diverticula (see DIVERTICULUM ) in the large INTESTINE . During the condition, there are cramp-like pains in the left side of the abdomen, possibly with constipation and fever. Treatment normally involves complete rest with no solid food, and antibiotics.
