Decompression Sickness

a condition that may affect workers operating in high pressure in diving bells or at depth underwater if they surface too rapidly. Pain in the joints (the bends), headache and dizziness (decompression sickness) and paralysis may be caused by the formation of nitrogen bubbles in the blood, which then accumulate in different parts of the body. Death may occur.
