conjunctivitis
inflammation of the mucous membrane (conjunctiva) that lines the inside of the eyelid and covers the front of the eye. The eyes become pink and watery, and the condition is usually caused by an infection that may be bacterial, viral or caused by the microorganism Chlamydia. Treatment depends on the cause but a number of drugs are used, often in the form of eyedrops.
