bird-fancier's lung

a form of extrinsic allergic ALVEOLITIS caused by the inhalation of avian proteins present in the droppings and feathers of certain birds, especially pigeons and caged birds (such as budgerigars). As in FARMER'S LUNG , there is an acute and a chronic form.
