bilirubin

one of the two important BILE pigments, formed primarily from the breakdown of HAEMOGLOBIN from red blood cells. Bilirubin is orange-yellow in colour while its oxidized form biliverdin is green. The majority of bile produced daily is eventually excreted and confers colour to the stools.
