Benedict's test

a test for glucose and reducing sugars. A solution of copper sulphate, sodium carbonate and sodium citrate is added to the sample. The solution is boiled, and sugar is indicated by a rust-coloured precipitate. The test is used to detect sugar in urine if DIABETES is suspected.
