Basal Cell Carcinoma

Basal cell carcinoma is a type of CANCER that develops from basal cells found in the outer layer of the SKIN. It is commonly associated with long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight. Basal cell carcinoma usually grows slowly and rarely spreads to distant parts of the body, but it can damage nearby tissues if untreated. It may appear as a shiny bump, non-healing sore, reddish patch, or scar-like area on the skin.
