aspirin
a type of drug in widespread use that is correctly called acetylsalicylic acid. It is used to relieve mild pain, e.g. headache, neuralgia and that associated with rheumatoid arthritis. It is used to combat fever and is also helpful in the prevention of CORONARY THROMBOSIS . In susceptible individuals it may cause irritation and bleeding of the stomach lining and is not normally given to children under the age of 12 years. High doses will cause dizziness and possibly mantal confusion.
Aspirin is used to: reduce fever relieve mild to moderate pain and inflammation prevent heart attacks, strokes or mini-strokes reduce the risk of death in people who are experiencing or who have had a heart attack Aspirin is in a group of medications called salicylates. It works by blocking natural substances that cause fever, pain, swelling, and blood clots.
