amnioscopy

the procedure by which an instrument (an ENDOSCOPE ) is inserted through the mother's abdominal wall, either by means of an incision or through her cervix, in order to view the FOETUS An amnioscope is used if the procedure is carried out abdominally and a fetoscope if through the cervix.
