allograft

a living tissue or organ graft between two members of the same species; for example, a heart transplant from one person to another. Such grafts will not survive unless the recipient is treated to suppress his body's IMMUNE RESPONSE to the foreign tissue or the grafted organ is from an identical twin. See also TRANSPLANTATION .
