Adult T-cell Leukemia

Adult T-cell leukemia is a rare CANCER of T-CELLS, a type of LYMPHOCYTE involved in the IMMUNE SYSTEM. It occurs when abnormal T-cells multiply uncontrollably in the BLOOD, LYMPH NODES, and other tissues. The disease is strongly associated with long-term infection by HUMAN T-CELL LYMPHOCYTOTROPHIC VIRUS (HTLV). Adult T-cell leukemia may cause enlarged lymph nodes, immune system problems, and involvement of different organs.

Adult T-cell leukemia is a rare blood cancer involving immune cells called T-cells and is linked to HTLV infection.
